FG08m3-054

I had the opportunity to photograph the wedding of Natalie and Mark.

They were married in the Draper Temple, which I had not yet had the opportunity to photograph.  It is a beautiful temple in a beautiful location.

Afterwards, Natalie and Mark hosted their family and friends for a fun evening of barbecue, ice cream, and dancing.  It was a wonderful evening.

My daughter, who worked as my assisted that night, summed it up by saying: it was the most fun wedding reception I’ve ever been to.

Congratulations Natalie and Mark!  May your love grow as you continue to grow closer through out all time.

The attached images are a few of my favorites from that day.

I often think it’s the detail shots that make a wedding album spectacular. There are so many uses for them in the album.

They can be used as a full page anchor on one side of a two-page spread.

They can be turned to opaque and used as a background image on which other images are placed.

Or, they can be used as a sequence of smaller images within a larger spread.

I love to capture detail shots such as these.

Wedding Album Preview

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Do you like looking at photographers’ pictures? I sure I do – always have. When my wife and I were engaged and shopping for a wedding photographer, one of our favorite things was to page through each photographer’s display wedding albums, looking for that spark, that style that would excite us.

In the ‘olden days’ we used to make appointments to visit each photographer and, sitting together on their couch, would page through album after album. We’d imagine ourselves pictured in those pages. I guess it’s kind of like trying on shoes at the shoe store . . .

Now, in this advanced age of Internet connectivity, our new-age brides have the convenience of doing the same thing, online, from the comfort of their own homes. Right now, in Salt Lake City, there’s a ton of snow out on the roads and driving isn’t too safe. I think I like this age of the Internet!

This album is for a wedding I shot this Fall: Katherine & Geoffrey. They were a fun couple to work with and I enjoyed the opportunity. The reception center, Aspen Landing, did a great job. They handled all of the catering and worked with the wedding party during the rehearsal, too. A great crew.

If you’d like, you can see the whole album in my Client Proofing Gallery. Just navigate to the Katherine & Geoffrey album using the menu, or simply click this link:
